January 18

January 18, 2013
Yesterday I forgot to tell you how I met all sorts of missionaries heading to the MTC here in Lima on the plane.  That was fun.  I also did not tell you how the toilet flushes backwards here.  Okay, now for my day yesterdy.  Yanela´s friends came over.  They taught me how to salsa dance and do some other dances.  We watched a really cool video of Yanela´s quince.  Mom, that is the big huge birthday that Latino´s throw when girls turn 15.  They do it for Mexican´s in Texas too.  It must have cost them a fortune to hold Yanela´s.  They probably saved their entire life.  Lucia is Yanela´s best friend.  I like her a lot.  She speaks slowly in Spanish.  Her Dad came over too.  For some reason he rubbed me the wrong way.  I could not communcate with him, but I jut did not like him.  I feel like he might have something against Mormons, but maybe I´m just being paranoid.  Mono fed us all sorts of snacks while the kids were here.  We had pizza for dinner.  It was casual and I just ate on the couch while music was always playing and we were messing around.  It was a fun night full of laughter.  When they left at 9 I was dead.  I was ready for bed.  BUT THEN my host parents wanted to go to Sergio and Paula's house.  They had been over and been dancing with us too.  They all know English music which is funny.  They asked me if I knew any of their music.  I felt awkward that they knew all of our music and I´d never heard of theirs.  We went to Sergio and Paula´s house around 9.  When I got there we initially watched TV from a big screen downstairs.  Then we went upstairs to their rooms.  We just sat there and watched TV all night.  I was dad and just layed on Paula´s bed.  We watched  lot of TV in English that had Spanish subtitles.  We watched that show the X factor.  It is like the voice.  Simon is on that show though so it is better than the voice.  It is funny that they watch English TV.  I don´t think it was because I was there either.  They just like it.  I hate how I can not tell how wealthy a person is based on the house they live in.  I got the impression that they were a well off fmily because I saw 2 flat screen TVs.  Paula was using a laptop and had an iphone too.  Apple products are insanely expensive here in Peru.  But there house was just... dirty.  I am glad my house here is clean.  It´s small.  But it is cleaner.  Except the fact that my feet are always black.  I need to find a broom and mop and just clean my room and bathroom really good.  Maybe then my feet won´t turn black.  We finally left their house at 2.  I came home and took benidrill because I could not breathe though my nose and I really wanted a good night sleep.  I slugged around all morning this morning, becuase I was so tired.  I woke up sweaty but not as much as the day before.  The cold shower was nice for sure.  I don´t mind the showers at all.  They are refreshing since we don´t have air. My sore throat went away, but the nose is still stuffy.  I thought I was finally getting over being sick.  Then I had an attack of diarreah.  We eat SO MUCH fruit here that it is probably just cleaning my system right out.  I finally ate someting Ijust hated.  It was a juice smoothy thing mad out of Papaya.  I discovered that I HATE PAPAYA.  I was just going to eat it anyways because it is good for me.  I also did not want my host mom running to the store to get strwberries as an alternative fruit.  We always eat pretty balanced meals.  I drank half the smoothie then started gagging.  Hahaha. Me and Yanela are going to start going to the gym and working out when she gets back from Germany.  She said she has gained a lot of weight on her exchange.  I took a picture of the Lima Peru Temple last night.  It is right next to Paula and Sergios house. Here is a picture of me and Diana for Eathyn.  There is also a picture of just the steeple of the temple as we drove by.  There is a couple pictures of those of us that were dancing last night.  MY host dad is looking into putting me into things to stay involved until school starts so I am loking forward to that.  Well that is it so far.  I like it here a lot.

  1. I like the X Factor. And Simon, or as Directioners call him, "Uncle Si." He & the X Factor created One Direction. (:
