Me and Yanela had the funnest weekend ever. We partied all weekend. We had fun. There wasn't even alcohol at the funnest party. Sunday church and made cookies. I suck at cooking. Yesterday we arrived in Trujillo PerĂº. I have never gotten off of an airplane by steps before. That was super cool. It was like being in a movie. We came into the airport and it was by far the biggest thing I have ever seen in my life. Just kidding. It had one baggage pick up. No air. And them you walked out. It was smaller than our house. We took a short bus ride to our awesome hotel. I love it. It has hot water. I have very much enjoyed just sitting in the hot water forever. I love it. I will never ever ever in my life take a hot shower for granted. And I will forever stay in the shower for a long time. Never again will I even attempt to take a 5 minute shower. Though, 5 minutes is better than nothing. Our hotel is literally right on the beach. It is super fun. We came in, are lunch, then went directly to the beach.
Last night we went to a board walk. Me and my new friend Emily, from Illionis were commenting on how cute of a place it was. I said "Welp. I'm gonna go find a boyfriend to walk to the end of the boardwalk with" because it's one of those cute places you go on a date.
I knew I would never be back on the boardwalk again, so I had to seize the moment. I grabbed some random guy in the group. His name is Ben.. If I remember correctly. I said "Hi what's your name?  I need you to be my boyfriend until we get to the end of the boardwalk". To I put my arm in his and we walked to the end haha.  I took a picture with him too to remember that glorious date haha. It is on Emily's camera though and not my phone.  His girlfriend is in the group too, but she didn't care. She's Asian. And perfect. After that we went with the tour guides(who are always with us) to a decorated square with a gazebo. We hung out there for a long time before heading back to the hotel. Trujillo must be safer. It was late at night and dark and there were little girls out riding around by themselves on bikes. And there were other little girls playing in the square by themselves. When I say little I mean like 9 years old. This morning we went and saw the ancient city of Chan Chan. It was fun for me to picture myself being alive during that time and being a person to actually live in that city. Then we went to see 2 Temple Ruins. They've been there since 100 years before Christ.
The anciant city of Chan Chan had cool designs that have still been preserved. It was a cool experience to go there. The bottom picture is also of a tomb. There was a large underground area for a body at the end of the hallway thing. Chan Chan is above and the Temple is below.
This picture is very important to me because those big boulders are the place where human sacrifice occurred. If it didn't rain for awhile or something bad was happeneing they would sacrifice a human. That's pretty awesome. Haha.
Here you can see 2 layers. I will describe the significance of that in a lower picture.
As soon as the unburied the 2 Temples on the Temple of the Sun and the other the Temple of the moon it rained. Most of the colors on the walls of the temple were washed away with the rain. Sucks for them haha. They probably thought "well crap". After that first rain they hurried to cover their new discoveries. Here are some pictures still with color on the Temple Walls though.
I though this particular stone was cool. All these stones represented a family. This one is cool to me because it makes everything seem so real. Those are someone's finger tips!!!  I real person from thousands of years ago!!!!!!  The Temples are even older than Chan Chan.
This shows how many times the temple was rebuilt. Everytime a governor died they would disregard the old temple and build a new one on top of it. You can see 6 layers.
We only went to the Temple of the Moon. They are still working on the preservation of the Temple of the Sun so it is not open to the public. After seeing these two things we went to each lunch. We had 2 very famous Peruvean meals of our choice. All the meals on the trip are prepaid for, except 2 nights dinners. I was stuffed. It was a nice restaurant where they had live music playing. The exchange students ended up providing extra entertainment. We were dancing. We eventually started a Congo line. I think that's the name, right?  We went all over the restaurant, including upstairs, dancing in this big train line. Super funny. The locals appeared to enjoy it and were recording us. But I'm sure they think we're crazy haha. I have a video of part of it, but I can't upload it to the blog.

When we came home we went to the beach again. Tey boys carried me into the freezing water. My skin keeps reacting with the salt water and becoming red and burning. It just have me another excuse to get to take another warm shower. We will do more stuff tonight, but now is our free time for beach, pool, or whatever we want to do.
